Product Overview
Taoist Water Bowl is also known as Chinese Spouting Bowl, Resonance Bowl, Dancing Water Basin, or Singing Fountain Bowl
This type of bowl dates back to the Hand Dynasty (202 BC to AD 9) and was historically used as a plaything for nobles and scholars, for meditation, and as a science tool to demonstrate wave behavior and resonance.
It is typically made from bronze or brass alloy.
When the bowl is filled halfway with water and the handles are rubbed with wet palms, the bowl vibrates, creating standing waves in the water that cause streams of water to spout from specific points, often from engraved fish or dragon motifs at the bottom.
