By the 19th century the popular and thus preferred color for Aquamarine was a sea green, yet in modern times the more popular color is a sky blue.

It is told that this stone placed on the neck or worn as a short necklace will treat many neck and throat problems one may encounter. Chronic tonsillitis may also be relieved by wearing a necklace of Aquamarine in conjunction with Turquoise, Sodalite, Chalcedony and Blue Topaz. This stone also has a beneficial effect on the thyroid, and metabolic functions.

As a semiprecious variety of Beryl, Aquamarine has long been associated with the sea and element of water; ancient stories are told of Sea Witches who cleansed the stones in the ocean by the light of the full moon; hence the association with Poseidon and Neptune.
This beloved stone is worn and carried about the body in magic to enhance one’s psychic powers. When holding a crystal point or faceted form of Aquamarine around one’s neck, it reduces the conscious mind’s hold on the psychic mind and thus allows our ever present psychic intuitions and impulses to be heard and enter into our conscious mind.
Since ancient times, it has been believed that Aquamarine counteracts the forces of darkness, as well as procuring favor from the spirits of the light.

Others have said it to be connected with Gemini, Pisces, and Aries. Most often it is strongly associated with Aquarius, promoting friendship and love, as well as Pisces to encourage awareness.
